InfoThis is the write up about the 2004 event, the last year we ran the SPAC. What a time it was....
About 80 unsuspecting naive entrants followed little paper arrows placed by a sick, twisted, sadistic event organizer into the woods and through a course like no other. Roots, rocks, branches, spider webs, mud, carcasses, ruts, 100-yard 45-degree hills, cliffs, and all manner of other hazards greeted the poor souls who wondered why they had decided to subject themselves to such lunacy. The longest
course yet, a GPS odometer indicated 7.1 miles for the bike course, but bike odometers typically read 8.5-9 miles.
The difference was the HILLS... the GPS didn't register up and down!
If you entered the event, send us your pictures. We'll post them ALL. If you didn't, check back, and we'll have more about the event, and all those pictures, soon.
An Outdoor Adventure
to benefit the Central Missouri Humane Society
Paddle 4 Miles, Bike Off-Road 6 Miles, Run/Walk Cross Country 3 Miles
There are two parts to this event, a Poker Run and a Race. The poker run is the most popular part, but the race is available for you competitive types. Enter one or the other (Or both if you are really fast and
sick).
The Poker Run: Collect playing cards along the way, best poker hand wins, regardless of time Many big fat prizes to be announced.
NEW FOR 2004: ADD-A-KID IN THE POKER RUN. For an extra $10 you can have your kid tag along. T-shirt included if you pre-register. We'll ask for another $5 for the kid for a boat if you don't have your own. Parent and kid(s) share the same
poker hand.
The Race: For you competitive types. Lots of trophies in every class: Sport, Masters (40+), Women and Expert. The race is run concurrently with the Poker Run.
Though challenging, any person of average athletic ability can easily complete this event in about 3 hours. Finger Lakes State Park is rough, tough terrain. It could be dusty; there will be mud. This is not a jaunt down the Katy Trail, but it is definitely not a psycho-difficult iron-man event, either. It’s a wild, fun afternoon playing in the woods. The event will be held RAIN OR SHINE. If it rains, it will be truly adventurous.
Entry Fee: $40 Day of Event.
Add-A-Kid Poker Run: $10/Kid, + $5 for Boat
Boat Rental: $10 Per PERSON (Not per boat)
We ordered extra boats, and we may still be able to get a boat for you. CALL 268-4106 and let us know that you would like to enter.
