Shakespeare's Table Tents
Fin - Employee of the Month, July 2000
Every month Shake’s employees nominate and vote for one of their own to be Emp o’ Month. The winner gets one misprinted, reject Shakes T-shirt; a White Chip Macadamia Nut Cookie; a table tent full of balderdash to send home; and a $50 bonus.
Fin recently started riding a bicycle. "I figured I could get
to work quicker, loosen up the these knobbly ol’ pegs, and get
in a bit of exercise. Even though I haven’t ridden one since
Wilson was President, riding a bike is like riding a bike.
"First I bought one of those $98 specials, but the darn wheel fell off and I found out what the helmet was for." So Fin went down to CyclExtreme, and talked to Tom. " I asked him about baskets and handlebar tassels, and he made a face like somebody just shoved toothpaste up his nose." Fin wound up with a nice city bike and some panniers for his parking duty hats, but no tassels.
After a few months of riding, the Show Me State Games came to town. On a lark, Fin entered the Super Senior class of the 5K event and lapped the whole field. Three times. CyclExtreme now sponsors him to promote selling bikes to the Golden Crowd.
"I get a free bike to ride. It has all these gears and things, but I don’t really know how they work so I don’t use them. I get all the Power Bars and Gatorade I can stand, but that kinda messes with my regularity, so I give them to the guys on the exit ramps with the cardboard signs. I have to wear the CyclExtreme uniform, including these goofy spandex bike britches. But my heiney is so skinny that I’m the only one with loose wrinkles in my seat. But the blisters aren’t too bad; I just stand up a lot."
Congratulations, Fin.
